How do you comment on a work in the Art History paper of the PAU?
You identify the work and its author, analyse its formal elements, place it in its style and context and explain its meaning. With the Barbeito Method we always use the same outline so no point is missed.
Do you have to memorise every work on the Art History syllabus?
You need to know the works on the official list well, but not word for word. We use sheets that highlight the key features of each work and link them to its style.
Which styles are hardest in Art History?
Those with many similar works, such as the Baroque, and the 20th-century avant-gardes, because of the variety of movements. We reinforce them with comparisons between works so they can be told apart quickly.
Are classes one-to-one or in groups?
The work is individualised: each student progresses with their own plan and at their own pace, even when sharing a classroom. That’s the foundation of the Barbeito Method and the reason it works with very different levels at the same time.
Is Art History worth it for PAU admissions?
Yes. For many Humanities and Social Sciences degrees it carries high weight and it is a subject where you can score highly with good preparation. We help you check the weighting at the UA or the UMH.
