How do you prepare the English paper of the PAU in Alicante?
By working on reading comprehension and written production, which is what is assessed, with past papers from the Valencian Community PAU, which is the one sat in Alicante. With the Barbeito Method we mark each writing task to the official criteria so the student knows where marks are lost.
Do you teach English to Primary school children in Alicante?
Yes. In Primary we reinforce what is taught at school and work on vocabulary, comprehension and speaking in a practical way, so English doesn’t become a problem in ESO.
Are classes one-to-one or in groups?
The work is individualised: each student progresses with their own plan, at their own pace. Conversation sessions take place in small groups, because speaking needs someone to talk to.
I’m an adult and want to lose my fear of speaking English. Will it help?
Yes. Many adults have a good base and what they lack is speaking practice. We devote part of every lesson to conversation about real situations, such as work, travel or meetings.
How do I know what level of English I have?
With a placement test in the first lesson, which measures grammar, comprehension and expression. From there we propose a goal, whether passing at school or certifying a level.
