How do you prepare History of Philosophy for the PAU in Alicante?
With outlines of each author on the syllabus, practice in text commentary and questions linking authors, using past papers from the Valencian Community PAU, which is the one sat in Alicante. It is a very trainable subject once you learn to answer what is asked.
I know the authors but get low marks in Philosophy exams. Why?
Almost always it is a writing problem: the topic is repeated instead of answering the specific question. With the Barbeito Method we practise short, well-structured answers, and marks rise quickly.
How do you write a good philosophical text commentary?
By identifying the main idea, explaining it with the author’s concepts and relating it to their context and thought. We practise it with texts from the syllabus until the student can do it alone.
Are classes one-to-one or in groups?
The work is individualised: each student progresses with their own plan and at their own pace, even when sharing a classroom. That’s the foundation of the Barbeito Method and the reason it works with very different levels at the same time.
Do you teach Philosophy for ESO and Year 1 of Bachillerato?
Yes. As well as Year 2, we support Year 4 ESO and Year 1 Bachillerato Philosophy, with particular attention to argument and essay writing.
